What is the Purpose of Competitive CrossFit?

I want to start this blog by first explaining what CrossFit is. To me, the main purpose around CrossFit is to give health and longevity within its participants through increasing a broad range of fitness capacities, without specializing in any one area. The idea of CrossFit lies within increasing strength, power, agility, balance, flexibility, speed, coordination, cardiorespiratory endurance, stamina, and accuracy. Now, many programs may weigh a bit more heavily within certain domains, due to human tendency to favor what they like. However, the main purpose of CrossFit lies with competency in all, without favoring any. Through this action, the participants will raise their general physical preparedness in a manner that can create health and longevity through movement.

So, back to the topic: What is the purpose of competitive CrossFit? Competitive CrossFit is the sport of CrossFit. You may ask, what is the difference? Well the difference is like any other sport out there. Take running for example. You can look to run to improve your health and fitness by running a few miles per day (CrossFit) or, you can train to run a sub-2 hour marathon (sport of CrossFit). I hope that comparison can give you insight into the difference between the two.

The sport of CrossFit, or competitive CrossFit, is a sport. It is a sport based around the presumption from the directors that the Fittest on Earth (male and female) will be found through this event. Competitive CrossFit is there for those who want to train fitness in a professional realm. Now, what our readers need to understand is that within anything, once you train it at a professional level, then the health component goes out the drain.

Can I answer the question for you then? What is the purpose of competitive CrossFit? Well, what is the purpose of competitive running, or playing on a professional baseball team, or being a professional fighter? If you can answer those, then you know the answer to competitive CrossFit. Competitive CrossFit is a sport, and a professional sport, where those who participate are striving to be the Fittest on Earth. For these individuals, just like those who compete in any other sport, the reward around the journey far outweighs the sacrifice that it requires. The sport of CrossFit has, and will continue to, shine a light on the limits of human potential (or shall I say, the potential of human genetics). This sport has shed more light on human performance across the various modalities of fitness than anything else, ever. So, if you ask me as I wrap this up, what is the purpose of competitive CrossFit; it is a platform for individuals to show their genetic potential in the Sport of Fitness.
