The Mindset of a Masters Champion

What does it take for a CrossFit Masters athlete to have an elite level mindset?

Over the years I have trained over thirty CrossFit Games Masters athletes, and of those thirty athletes, I have produced over nine podium finishers with four gold medal winners.

All of the podium finishers have one thing in common, as it relates to mindset: they all have the ability to spot the forest through the trees.

In other words, they foster a strong growth mindset. They never see it as black and white, good or bad. They are able to take it all, reflect on their performance, and move onto the next part - controlling what they can, and letting go of what they cannot. The ability to do this is inherently instilled in them, and also trained over the time.

This aspect of the mind allows them to compete and let go. It allows them to put their full energy into what’s next and not try to change or waste energy on what they cannot change. For CrossFit Masters Games athletes, the ability to have a strong mindset is equally important to their overall fitness level.

At Conquer Athlete, we work with all of our athletes around mindset, and we understand that in order to reach your fullest potential, you need to first be able to reach your fullest potential mentally.
